Custom Urn Built to Specification
For complex and unique products manufactured with fine wooden materials, Jay Gee Wood has set a high standard of quality for 45 years. We were approached by a client in the funeral home industry to manufacture an octagon wood ash urn, using a customer-supplied print and a 2D CAD drawing. We used flat cut cherry wood to manufacture this urn in multiple pieces, employing traditional woodworking equipment including our planer, jointer, saw, moulder, and shaper. The parts were machined and assembled into distinctive, attractive octagon shapes. Each piece was finished with and oil based stain and top-coated with an acrylic lacquer clear coat. The finished funeral urns measured 10" in length, 10" in width, and 6-1/2" high, showcasing solid construction and a beautiful, tasteful appearance.
The quality of these urns was assured by in-process inspection, which occurred at each level of construction. We currently build 300 of these per year, with 25 made per construction run, for our client in Chicago, Illinois.
